They’re not exactly “new” singers…
On November 11, the MTV EMAs will take place in Amsterdam, and there will be a five Korean groups competing for the title of Korea’s Best New Singer. SISTAR is the only girl group to be in the running, and is pitted up against EXO, B.A.P, Boyfriend, and U-KISS. It appears that MTV hasn’t really taken into account the “new” part of this category, and instead is just focusing on international popularity, given the fact that U-KISS has been around since 2008 while the other groups range anywhere from that time until last year.
It’s a bit unfortunate that no rookie groups are being put into the spotlight at the EMAs this year, but it’s great that they opened up a category just for Korean music, considering that it’s a European award show! If you want to vote, head over to the EMAs official website. But, there’s a catch! To vote for any of the Korean groups, you must be logged in on the Korean website for the EMAs.
